  2. Argentina covers a total area of 1,073,500 square miles, making it the second-largest country in South and Latin America after Brazil, the fourth-largest country in the Americas, and the eighth-largest country in the world.
  3. The official language of Argentina is Spanish.
  4. The name Argentina comes from the Latin word “Argentum” which means silver. The Spanish empire named it because the country was a rich metal source.
  5. Tierra del Fuego, an archipelago at South America’s southernmost tip shared by Chile and Argentina, is renowned for spectacular landscapes that feature coastline, forests, glaciers, lakes, mountains, and waterfalls.
  6. At 22,831 feet above sea level, Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Americas, and is located in the Mendoza province, Argentina.
